Ravensdale Bridge (2019-21)

When New York State began to plan its replacement of the deteriorated Ravensdale Bridge, I worked to ensure this key Village gateway would be as functional and appealing as possible.

As the Village Board’s liaison for the project, I successfully advocated with NYSDOT to upgrade their design with historic architectural elements and streetlamps, and to landscape the slopes on either side and the raised berm below.

I also identified in the site maps a forgotten and overgrown access to the South County Trailway, which the State restored with the paved path, split-rail fence, and landscaping that now runs along Saw Mill River Road from the northeast corner of the bridge.

From the planning stage through the challenging construction phase, I kept the community updated with written posts and illustrations, and advocated for the residents impacted by the noise and disruption.
